"Horn From the Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story" free screening

He’s in the Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, and he helped bring the blues to a whole new audience, but he’s still not a household name.

Hailing from Chicago’s gritty South side, Paul Butterfield took the blues to a whole new level but died before he got the recognition he deserved. Join us Wednesday Jan. 16 as the WTMD Film Series presents a free screening of “Horn from the Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story,” a new documentary about the legendary blues harmonica player.

Paul Butterfield was the only musician to play the Newport Folk Festival, the Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock. His band of mixed race blues musicians pushed the envelope in the 1960s, and their live show was like no other.

WTMD, in partnership with Towson University’s Department of Electronic Media and Film, presents “Horn From the Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story” Wednesday Jan. 16 at 1 Olympic Place in Towson. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 8. The film is free and so is the popcorn.

Wednesday, January 16 at 7:30pm to 10:00pm
